Her birthplace was St. Louis and moved rapidly into New York City when she was only two days old. The year was 1991 when Barnard College granted her an Arts History degree. The same year, she was offered a job as an entry-level chef at the restaurant An American Place for one year. However, Guarnaschelli's cooking experience began earlier while watching her mother test numerous recipes at home, while she was making cookbooks. While working for Larry Forgione, she worked at various establishments, like Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot in New York France Los Angeles. Guarnaschelli was later appointed as executive chef for Butter. Guarnaschelli was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America in 2007. She fought Cat Cora at the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 and she won. In the following years, she's been at the show's guest judges and competed at The Next Iron Chef Season Four in 2011, when she came in third. She lost out in the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. She was promoted to sous-chef to Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian following the 4th season of The Next Iron Chef.
